so it's been a month since i last posted and that's cuz i've been super busy...working the coolest job ever, but unfortunately for me, it's a temp gig. i work 2 blocks from the beach (of course, i've only been to the beach the first day) in a cool building with creative people... the company creates movie posters, DVD artwork (on the disc and the cover), and ads for tv, cable, film... and not only have i done the normal office manager stuff, i've actually gotten to write copy!!! i can't explain how exciting it is to see something i've written mocked up on a DVD cover or movie poster. whether anything i've written will actually make it to press, well i don't know yet. but it's still neat-o (ha) to see the back of the DVD (30th anniversary of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, for example) and know that i wrote that synopsis. (that example is even more WHOO-HOO b/c Mr. Spielberg is looking at something i wrote. yup, i'm name dropping again, but ya gotta realize that i am just fucking excited as hell, and i'm congratulating myself. hahaha). I would love love love to be hired full time there (at a reasonable pay too), but i don't think they have room for me. i was just temping for a girl on her honeymoon. it's my new goal though, to make a living doing that kind of writing. it's creative and sparks my juices and it's something i can be excited about, rather than just being OK b/c i'm writing SOMETHING. (which of course, anything is better than nothing, but...)

so anyway, that place rocks and i need to work there....

OK, so mr. mcghee and i are heading to alaska tonight for 12 days to absorb some fresh crisp air and surround ourselves with nature instead of concrap. so bloody psyched to go, can't believe the day is finally here. Doing the RV thing, which will make the adventure even more of one... neither of us has ever done an RV trip, nor have we been to Alaska...
